Dear Birthparent…
Hello! We are Brigid and Andrew, two people with a lot of love to give to a child. We do have one son, but are unable to have any more children. Because we love being parents so much, we really want more kids. We know that if you are reading this, you are searching for a family for your baby, and that it is taking a lot of strength and courage to imagine your baby with that family. We hope that as you learn about us, you will feel comfort knowing that if you choose us to be your baby’s mom and dad, he or she will be loved by us and our families, well-cared for, and have a good life.
About Us…
Believe it or not, we met when we were small children! Our mothers have been friends for 35 years, and although we lost touch as we grew up, our moms did not. Finally when we were adults, they decided we should reconnect, which proves the saying that “mother knows best” because we’ve now been married for 8 years. Brigid is a middle school teacher who loves to help her students learn and grow. Brigid has always loved kids, starting with her 3 younger brothers and younger sister, who she is still close to today. Brigid loves reading mysteries and Harry Potter, sewing, swimming, and being outside. Her favorite thing to be is a mom. Andrew is an engineer who builds things, like robots. He likes to volunteer at elementary schools to teach kids about robots. Andrew loves playing basketball and challenging his 101 year old grandfather to a game of Scrabble. We both love to spend time with our families, and going to the zoo, the park, the library and the children’s museum with our son, Luke.
Our Home and Pets…
We love our home because it is in a nice, friendly, diverse neighborhood. We can walk to parks, the library, shops, and restaurants. We have a nice backyard with a swing set.We have four bedrooms, one of which is all ready for a new baby. We share our home with our snuggly cats, Po and Olivia. They like to snuggle up with us on family movie night!
Our Family…
We live near both of our families, and are able to see our parents, brothers and sisters, and nieces and nephews frequently. Our parents are wonderful grandparents. Andrew’s parents enjoy having their grandchildren over on Saturday morning, and the cousins love playing with each other, and playing music with Grammie. Brigid’s parents love hosting family events, especially in the summer, when they host frequent pool parties.
Because we are adopting, and may adopt a child of another race or ethnicity, we are fortunate that we have family and friends who are of other races and ethnicities, or adopted, or both! They are supporting us, and ready to support our child.
Our Journey to Adoption…
We always hoped to have two or three children. But, we experienced 3 miscarriages and Brigid was then told she had secondary infertility in the years after our son was born. We still want to have more children, so we decided to add to our family through adoption. Because our journey towards our second child has been so long and hard, please know that our adopted child will always know how much we wanted him or her, and how much he or she grew in our hearts while we waited for our family to be complete.
